ANC Guitar and Piano Classes

guitarBeginning Guitar Class meets, Thursdays, February 7 – March 14, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. in the Adams/Vines Gallery. Fee is $38 for 6 sessions.

Adult Piano class meets, Tuesdays, February 19 – April 30, 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Piano Lab in the Sullins Administration Building. Fee is $55 for 10 sessions.

Children’s Piano class meets, Tuedays, February 19 – April 30, 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Piano Lab in the Sullins Administration Building.
Fee is $ 55 for 10 sessions.

Turbo Kick®

Turbo Kick® will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning February 19 to March 28, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Whitney Duffey will conduct the class in the aerobics room in the Briggs/Sebaugh Wellness Center on the Blytheville campus. Fee for 10 sessions is $38.

Come join the hottest cardio fitness training around! Turbo Kick® is a combination of intense kickboxing moves, as well as, dance moves choreographed to high energy and motivating music. It is the ultimate cardiovascular challenge that is a unique blend of intense interval strength/endurance training ending with a relaxing cool down. There is no contact involved. The routines are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat.

Piano Classes for Adults and Children

Class piano for adults and children will meet on Tuesdays, February 19 to April 30. Class piano for children will meet from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and adult piano will meet from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The classes will meet in room B109 in the Sullins Administration Building on the Blytheville campus. The fee is $55. Mrs. Marilyn McNear will instruct the classes. Textbook for children’s piano, Alfred’s Basic Group Piano Course Book 1, and adult’s textbook, Alfred Basic All In One, Level 1, will be available to buy from instructor on first day of class.

Beginning class piano for both adults and children offers group instruction with individual attention in an electronic piano lab. Course will include basic reading, rhythmic and theory skills as well as basic chord patterns. The classes will extend for 10 sessions.

Studio and Portrait Photography Calss

Studio and Portrait Photography will meet on Tuesdays, February 12 – 26, 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. in room B206 in the Sullins Administration Building. Registration fee is $49.

Are you ready to take your photography skills to the next level? Would you like to get hands-on experience in Portrait and Product Photography? In this exciting and fun class, intermediate and advanced hobbyists will learn the basics of Studio Photography. Among the techniques to be learned are; how to create a studio setting, basic lighting set-ups and arranging talent/products for optimum photographic impact. Mr. Wolf Porter will instruct the class.

Required Equipment: 1 Digital Camera and its manual, Recording Media, Computer Connection Cable, 1 Small Portable USB Drive 2GB or larger, 1 Charged Camera Battery (rechargeable or disposable as appropriate)
Optional Accessories: 1 Camera Bag, 1 or more Camera Lenses, 1 Tripod

AMerican Sign Language

The Department of Community Education at Arkansas Northeastern College will offer American Sign Language. Christie O’Neal will teach the class on Thursdays, February 7 to March 14, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. on the ANC Blytheville campus. Student can purchase book on first day of class. The fee is $59.

American Sign Language is the primary language for thousands of hearing impaired Americans. Students will acquire an impressive vocabulary of signs along with finger spelling skills. Upon successful completion, the student will be able to ask and give directions and make limited small talk in American Sign Language. Textbook supplied through Arkansas Northeastern College bookstore.

Firearm Safety and Markmanship Class

Learn proper gun handling to promote firearm safety while developing marksmanship. Course includes instruction on safety and operation of guns plus hands-on training at the firing range. Bring guns and ammunition to the range only. This class meets requirements for concealed handgun permit. Class is limited to the first 20 paid students. First come, first served basis.

Studio Art Class Offering

Studio Art for students ages 12 years and up will meet on Tuesdays, February 5 to March 12, 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Osceola Public Library, 320 West Hale Street in Osceola. A supply list will be made available to students on the first night of class. Studio Art is sponsored by the Mississippi County Library System and in cooperation with ANC. The fee is $5 and student supplies art materials.

Studio Art will teach basic drawing and painting techniques. The class invites student to develop his own style while experimenting with a variety of techniques and subjects. Art history and art from other cultures will be explored. There will be an art exhibition at the culmination of the class. Robert Zenanko will teach the class.

Art Zone: After School Art Club

“Art Zone: After School Art Club” for children will meet on Thursdays, February 7 to March 14. Children in K-2nd grades will meet from 4:00 p.m to 5:00 p.m. Children in 3rd to 6th grades will meet from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The class will meet on the Blytheville Campus in room art room/B115 in the John P. Sullins Administration Building. Registration fee is $50 and includes supplies.

Join us after school at ANC! Using a particular theme for each class, participants will work with a variety of mediums while exploring their artistic imagination through drawing, painting, sculpture and printmaking. Supply list will be available upon registration. Art instructor Emily Ellis has just completed her degree in Art Education at Arkansas State University.

Conversational Spanish

spanish Conversational Spanish will meet in the Blytheville and Osceola and Leachville Public Libraries. The classes are sponsored by the Mississippi County Library System in cooperation with ANC. The fee is $5. Student can purchase the book, Conversational Spanish:Quick and Easy, from instructor on first day of class, $13.00.

Spanish classes will meet as follows: Tuesdays, February 5 to March 12, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Blytheville Public Library, Thursdays, February 7 to March 21, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Osceola Public Library, and Monday, February 4 to March 18, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Leachville Public Library. Class will not meet on Valentine’s Day, February 14.

Digital Cameras De-Mystified

Digital Cameras De-Mystified will meet on Tuesdays, January 29 to February 5 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The class will meet on the Blytheville campus in the Sullins Administration Building. The fee is $35.

Digital cameras are everywhere these days but learning how to use them isn’t always easy. Does your camera take pictures only or does it also shoot video? Are your images recorded to an internal hard drive or do you need flash media? What is Flash media and how can this camera be used to take great pictures?

Award-winning Photojournalist and Cinematographer H. Woflgang Porter will take away the mysteries of using your digital camera. In the fun course Digital Cameras De-Mystified, students will learn basic camera controls, how to better expose and compose photos, the differences in recording media used by today’s popular digital cameras and how to download/store your precious images.

Students will need to bring to class a digital camera and its manual, recording media, computer connection cable(s) and one small USB Drive 1GB or larger capacity.
