Play ball!
Baseball Camp will meet on Saturday, April 18 at the Thunder Bayou Sports Complex. Ages 7 – 10 will meet 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and ages 11 – 14 meet 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The fee is $35. Registration deadline is Wednesday, April 15.
The baseball players will focus on hitting, fielding, throwing mechanics and fielding drills to accomplish your baseball goals. Coach Blake Burnside, Blytheville High School Baseball Coach, played a baseball for 2 years at Dyersburg State Community College and 2 years at University of Missouri, St. Louis. Let Coach Burnside help you step up to the plate with confidence this season. Be a part of the excitement and join us on the playing field at Thunder Bayou Sports Complex. Please bring bats, gloves, and bottled water.

Tennis anyone?
Learn or review the basic fundamentals of the serve, forehand, backhand, rules, etiquette, scoring & sportsmanship from tennis enthusiast, Tom Holmes. Tennis is great exercise and a game you can play all your life. Bring your racquet and join our tennis class. We will be creating a “Community Tennis Association” within the area to promote the growth of tennis activities for those interested. The class will meet on Thursday evenings, April 16 – March 14 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at Blytheville’s Walker Park Tennis Court. The fee $45 for 5 sessions.

Learn “Green Living” at ANC
ANC’s Sustainability 101: Green Living class will meet Tuesday, March 31, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Ramey Center at Westminster Village and again from 6:30 to 7:30 in the ANC/Adams Vines Gallery on the Blytheville campus. The class is free.

Spring Wreath Making Class Offering
Get ready for spring with this fun hands on wreath making class! Creative and talented Margaret Abbott of Lunsford’s Flowers is back and will show you how to create a silk floral wreath to accent your home.
Our Spring Wreath Design class will meet Monday, March 30 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Lunsford’s Flower Shop, 1505 West Main Street in Blytheville. The fee is $20 plus supply fee paid to instructor.
This is your chance to get an introduction to the tools, materials, and tricks of the florist trade, and learn basic design techniques. Come make a permanent spring wreath to take home. Bring your glue gun to class.

Dog Obedience Class
ANC’s Dog Obedience class for dogs 4 months to 12 months will be offered Thursdays, April 2 – May 21 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on the H. Claude Bush Honors Plaza on the Blytheville campus. The fee is $100 for 8 sessions.
Dog Obedience is designed to help you better understand your pet. This course will enable you to train your dog to be a welcome member of the family. Information will include sits, sit-stays, down, down-stays, recall, standing for examination, leading in several formations, socialization skills, training as a companion dog and a well-mannered dog for the home.
Dick Hefner, the instructor, has trained dogs for 24 years. Hefner said he feels the intelligence of dogs is under-appreciated in our society. “Dogs have unconditional love and are always there for you. A well-trained dog is a joy to be around. It is easier to take him out in public and have other people come to your home and enjoy him,” Hefner said.

Be a Storm Spotter
Whether you are interested in becoming a serious spotter or just taking the class for fun, the National Weather Service’s ‘Skywarn’ storm spotter class is a great way to learn about severe weather.
The spotter training course introduces the spotter to the NWS warning system and shows the hazards associated with severe thunderstorms. Spotters are shown what to look for when observing thunderstorms. Examples of downburst winds, wall clouds, funnel clouds, and tornadoes are shown and explained. Local severe weather climatology and basic severe weather meteorology are covered as well. Spotters are also instructed on how to report their observations to the NWS. The class lasts two hours and features slides, videos, and a video quiz. Nature’s Bath and Body
Ever wonder why body products are so expensive? In our three hour hands-on course, come make simple, but delightful, natural body care products. Learn about herbs and create recipes tailored to your needs and preferences. . . and save money while you are at it! Make and take home, several samples including body butters, bath salts, sugar scrubs, and buttermilk baths. Class meets Saturday, March 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon in the Adams/Vines Gallery on the Blytheville Campus. The cost is $29 payable to ANC and a $12 fee payable to instructor for cost of supplies.

Going Green at ANC
We invite you to our “Backyard Composting Made Easy” class Thursday, March 19 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 in the Adams/Vines Gallery on the Blytheville Campus. Instructor Robert Hunter, Recycling/Marketing Manager of Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality, will teach the basics of setting up and managing yard and garden waste. Environmental protection begins in our own backyard. Composting is nature’s way of recycling. Learn how to turn waste into resources, save landfill space and and recycle nutrients back into the soil in our composting class. The class is FREE and open to everyone.
