American Red Cross Babysitters Class

Monday – Thursday, June 20 – 23

1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Location: ANC Blytheville Campus (classroom to be announced)

Fee: $40 for  Babysitters Textbook, portfolio and CPR Textbook

This training prepares young people for the many responsibilities associated with caring for infants and young children. This nine-hour course provides a full range of injury prevention and safety skills as well as training in decision-making, basic care, leadership and professionalism. Every parent will want to hire you to baby-sit after you take this course. This class provides every student with hands-on learning experience filled with interactive activities. Sue Southard, American Red Cross Staff, will instruct the class.

Little Ballerinas Camp

Monday – Thursday, June 20 – 23

1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Location: Aerobics Room in the Briggs/Sebaugh Wellness Center

Fee: $34

Ballerina Camp will allow children to learn creative movement. There will be an informal show the last day of camp. Michelle Smith of Michelle School of Dance will instruct the class.

Jazz Dance Fun

Monday – Thursday, June 20 – 23

2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Location: Aerobics Room in the Briggs/Sebaugh Wellness Center

Jazz Camp will allow children to learn the fun moves of dance to their favorite pop music. The camp ends with a parent show. Michelle Smith of Michelle School of Dance will instruct the class.

Oops! Manners for Girls

Monday – Thursday, June 20 – 23

Entering 4th – 7th grades meets 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Entering 2nd – 3rd grades meets 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Location: Statehouse Hall Governors Ballroom

Fee: $44 (includes tea treats)

Life’s full of new experiences & sticky situations. Instructor, Pamela Pruett, Family and Consumer Science Instructor, will teach telephone etiquette, introductions, table manners at home, dining out, and setting the table. Mrs. Pruett will teach proper RSVP’s, and thank you note skills. Young ladies will gain poise and confidence while learning the importance of social skills. Several recipes enjoyed by girls of all ages will be prepared. Parents will be invited to join the young ladies for “tea time” on the last day of class. Students will prepare the tea treats for the party.

Tennis Clinics

Monday – Friday, June 20 – 24

Beginner players meet 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Intermediate players meet 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon

BlythevilleWalker Park Tennis Courts

Fee: $40

Learn the basic fundamentals of the serve, forehand, backhand, rules, etiquette, scoring and sportsmanship from tennis enthusiast, Tom Holmes. Tennis is great exercise and a game you can play all your life. We will be creating a “Community Tennis Association” within the area to promote the growth of tennis activities for those interested. Students need to bring a tennis racquet, water and cap.

Twirling Camp

Monday – Thursday, June 20 – 23

5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Location:  Gym in Briggs/Sebaugh Wellness Center

Baton twirling is not only an eye-catching and impressive skill, but it is great exercise as well! Learn baton terminology, posture, marching, twirls, flashes, slings, rolls, passes, tosses, and then learn to incorporate into a routine in preparation for becoming a skillful twirler and majorette.   Marie Sloan will instruct the class. Student will need to wear tennis shoes and bring to class a slender shaft baton. Baton can be purchases online at americanbaton.com or from All Sports Shop inKennett,Missouri.
