Cougar Fitness

Tuesdays and Thursdays, September 11 – October 11

4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Aerobics Room/ANC Briggs/Sebaugh Wellness Center

 Fee: $38 (5 weeks/10 sessions)

             Cougar Fitness is an aerobic, strength, and sculpting class that is aimed toward female participants ages 40 to 75 years old. Come ready to sweat and reach your healthy lifestyle goals!   It is limited to 12 participants per class, and includes 2 classes of the following schedule.  Keith Hearnsberger is the facilitator for this course!

Total Body Sculpt: Experience this challenging and dynamic whole body muscle conditioning class using dumbbells, exercise balls, & body bars as resistance tools.

 Thighs, Butts, and Guts: This variation on the Total Body Sculpting class focuses specifically on the lower body and core muscle groups.

 On the Ball: This class uses a physioball in combination with dumbbells to improve balance, strength and muscle conditioning

 Upper Body Blast: This upper body muscle conditioning class targets the back, shoulders, biceps, and triceps. If you are sick of doing the same old strength routine come to this class.

 Abs: Stop doing crunches on your own. This abs class uses various stations and/or equipment to make ab work fun again.

 CardioBlast: This class caters to those who wish to improve their fitness, quickness, and agility, through a series of short burst and body weight exercises along with dynamic stretches.

Toss It Around: Strength Training with Medicine Balls

 Are you ready to start a regular exercise program? Do you want to feel better and have more energy?

 This free program will help increase strength, flexibility and balance.

 Why sign up?

 It’s fun, easy and free!  If you complete the program, you will receive three medicine balls.

 About the program:

  • 60-minute sessions twice a week for 12 weeks
  • Exercises use medicine balls
  • Program consists of a warm-up, nine exercises, and a cool-down

 What is a medicine ball?

 A medicine ball is a weighted ball similar in size to a basketball or volleyball. They are available in various weights.  Participants will be provided with a set of medicine balls for use in the program.

 To be eligible for this program, participants must:

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Not be currently engaged in a regular exercise program
  • Be able to commit to meeting 2 times a week for 12 weeks
  • Attend orientation Wednesday, Sept. 5, 10:00 a.m.

 Classes will meet on Monday and Wednesday, September 10 – December 5, at 10:00 a.m. in the aerobics room in the ANC Briggs/Sebaugh Wellness Center. Orientation is Wednesday, September 4, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., in the Adams/Vines Gallery.
