The Department of Community Education at Arkansas Northeastern College will offer Basic Dog Obedience class Tuesdays, April 3 to May 22 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on the H. Claude Bush Honors Plaza on the Blytheville campus. The fee is $100 for 8 sessions.

Dog Obedience is designed to help you better understand your pet. This course will enable you to train your dog to be a welcome member of the family. Instruction will include sits, sit-stays, down, down-stays, recall, standing for examination, leading in several formations, socialization skills, training as a companion dog and a well-mannered dog for the home.

Dick Hefner, the instructor, has trained dogs for 24 years. Hefner said he feels the intelligence of dogs is under-appreciated in our society. “Dogs have unconditional love and are always there for you. A well-trained dog is a joy to be around. It is easier to take him out in public and have other people come to your home and enjoy him,” Hefner said.

To register or for more information, call Lena Guidry, Department of Continuing and Community Education of Arkansas Northeastern College at (870) 762-3167 or email lguidry@smail.anc.edu.
