The Department of Continuing and Community Education of Arkansas Northeastern College will host Master Gardeners Garden Talk: Preparing Your Vegetable Garden.  The session is free. Master Gardeners Clyde and Pat O’Neal will instruct the class. Gather your friends to come enjoy the presentation on Tuesday, February 14, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. The garden talk will meet in the Adams/Vines Gallery on the Blytheville campus.

Those who enjoy gardening should consider signing up for training to become a Master Gardener (MG) in Mississippi County.  The 40-hour MG training program is being offered by the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service in cooperation with Arkansas Northeastern College. Those who complete the training and pass the examination will become certified Master Gardeners.  In exchange for the training, MG graduates are required to volunteer at least 40 hours to help plan, conduct, and maintain projects of the Mississippi County Master Gardener program and agree to acquire 20 additional learning hours within the next year.  In order to retain the Master Gardener designation in subsequent years, graduates must accumulate at least 20 MG volunteer hours and obtain 20 learning hours annually.

The MG training will be conducted at the Craighead County Extension Office during the winter.  A $65 fee is required by participants to cover the cost of training materials and meals.  Applications are available from ANC, the Mississippi County Extension office, and your local nurseries and garden centers.  ANC and the Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service offer their programs to all eligible persons regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, gender, age, disability, marital or veteran status, or any other legally protected status.  For more information, contact the County Extension office at 870-762-2075. To register for the garden talks call 870.762.3167 or email lguidry@smail.anc.edu.
