Body Shaping Workout Class Offered
How would you like to improve your flexibility, get a nicely toned, lean body and forget about your busy life for an hour? If your answer is yes, we have a solution for you! Come join our body shaping workout class! This exercise class is designed to shape and tone the body without building muscular size or bulk. Ms. Dee Keiter’s strength training workout combines flexibility and cardiovascular conditioning using light weight dumbbells. Strong, toned muscles increase your metabolism and burn calories. Our body shaping workout class is a great way to lose weight and stay strong.
Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, February 21 to March 22, 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Fee is $37 for 10 sessions.

AARP Driver Safety Classes
The Department of Continuing and Community Education atArkansasNortheasternCollegeis offering the popular “AARP – Drivers Safety Program” to anyone 55 & older. The class will meet the following dates:
Monday, February 13, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the ANC Blytheville Campus
Wednesday, February 22, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Manila First Baptist Church
Wednesday, February 29, 9:00 a.. to 1:00 p.m. in the Ramey Center at the Westminster Village.
Veterans and their spouses are entitled to attend without any cost! They will need to show one of several available forms of identification, including DD Form 214, ID cards, etc. Only those Veterans and spouses 55 or older will receive mandated discounts from their insurance agency.
The AARP Driver Safety Program is a refresher course that helps senior drivers:
- Understand the effects of aging
- Adapt to changes we face as we grow older
- Identify the most common crash situations
- Reduce chances of having a crash
- Realize reduction in their insurance premiums.
There are no tests and no failures in this course. Happily, our graduates tell us:
- They are highly satisfied with their participation in the course.
- They will recommend taking the course to a friend.
- They changed at least one driving habit as a result of taking the class.
By successfully completing this four-hour course, your insurance premiums may be reduced from 5-14%. The first comprehensive nationwide course is especially designed for the older driver. The course will help update your driving knowledge and skills. Your certificate is good for 3 years. Limited enrollment. Fee is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. These days if you have a cellphone, there’s a camera built-in! Whether trying to get good shots of wriggling grandchildren or the next award-winning news photo, using a Camera Phone is tricky. In this fun and informative class, you’ll learn the basic controls of your camera phone, shooting tips and how to use them for getting surprisingly good looking photos! (2 sessions) Fee $45

Whether your needs are for basic conversation or Spanish as a second language, this course is designed to develop language skills at the beginning level. Join us after school at ANC! Using a particular theme for each class, participants will work with a variety of mediums while exploring their artistic imagination through drawing, painting, sculpture and printmaking. The instructor is in the process of pursuing a degree in Art Education at Arkansas State University. Emily Ellis will instruct the class.

Yoga Classes
In this series of classes students will move smoothly in and out of poses, following their breath. This class is open to beginning and intermediate levels, and combines a vigorous practice with breath awareness and restorative poses. These classes maintain a faster pace and offer more challenging variations to develop strength, balance and endurance. Please come prepared with your own yoga mat. Additional props will be provided when necessary. We ask that you come with a relatively empty stomach and an open mind.

Digital Cameras are everywhere these days, but learning how to use them isn’t easy. In this popular and fun class, you’ll learn your camera’s basic controls, how to better expose and compose your photos, the differences in recording media used by today’s cameras and how to download/store your precious images. This fun 3-day class is intended for the intermediate hobbyists and those who are familiar with the basic controls of their digital cameras but want to learn more about creative photography. During class lectures and hands-on shooting sessions students will learn how to push beyond ‘point and shoot’ photography by using their camera’s built-in camera features in addition to traditional intermediate level photographic techniques. Class Piano for Children
(2nd – 6th graders)
This class for beginning piano students offers group instruction with individual attention in an electronic piano lab. Course will include basic note and rhythmic reading theory skills and basic chord pattern. On the day of the last class, family and friends are invited for a piano concert. The instructor, Dr. Keith Hearnsberger, is the ANC Music instructor and Director of Choral Activities. Student will provide textbook, Alfred’s Basic Group Piano Course, available in the ANC Bookstore. (12 sessions) Fee: $120 plus book

Beginning Acoustic Guitar

Instructor: Charles Moody has been playing the guitar, banjo, harmonica, and mandolin for over 30 years. Born in Memphis, he has recorded in major studios, toured the U.S. with different bands and played at countless festivals.
